Day 02
Kathmandu/Pokhra
We will head to the airport for a 30-minute flight to Pokhara. Pokhara is a place of great natural beauty. Located at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level and 200 kilometers west of the Kathmandu Valley, the city is known as an adventure hub. This charming city boasts beautiful lakes and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. The serenity of the lakes and the magnificence of the Himalayas create an atmosphere of peace and magic. Upon arrival in Pokhara, transfer to the hotel and check-in. In the afternoon, enjoy a half-day city tour. Devi’s Fall: Devi’s Fall is a beautiful waterfall located about 2 kilometers southwest of Pokhara Airport on the Siddhartha Highway. Legend has it that a hiker was swept away by the Pardi Khola and mysteriously disappeared into an underground passage beneath the falls. Guptesure Cave: One of the largest caves in Pokhara, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is another natural wonder in Pokhara. Bindabasini Temple: Located in the northern part of Nepal’s beautiful lake city, the Bindabasini Temple sits near Pokhara’s bustling Old Bazaar, 3,000 feet above sea level along the Annapurna and Machhapuhhare Himalayan range. The temple, dedicated to the guardian deity, holds great religious significance for Hindus living in Pokhara. Seti Gorge: The roaring Seti River flows right through Pokhara, but you won’t see it unless you go looking for it. The river has carved a deep, narrow gorge through the heart of the city. The best place to get a glimpse of the Seti River is the park just north of the Old Bazaar, near the Gurkha Museum. Lake Phewa: The main attraction in Pokhara is Lake Phewa, the second largest lake in the Kingdom. It is the largest and most enchanting of the three lakes that contribute to Pokhara’s splendor. Here, you can sail or paddle by renting a boat and visit the temple on the island in the middle. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 03
Pokhara/Bharatpur/Chitwan
EM: Transfer to Sarangkot to watch the sunrise and, of course, the Annapurna mountain range. This mountain range is located north of Pokhara, overlooking the valley and Fewa Tal, at an altitude of 1,592 meters. Sarangkot is a beautiful town known for its sunrise, where on a clear day, the panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Dhauligiri, and Fishtail Mountains are unobstructed by the Himalayas. We will drive to the airport an hour before your departure to catch a flight to Bharatpur, Chitwan. Chitwan National Park stands today as a successful testament to nature conservation in South Asia. It was Nepal’s first national park, established in 1973 to preserve a unique ecosystem of significant global value. The park, covering a pristine area of 932 km², is situated in the subtropical Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal. There are over 43 mammal species in the park, and it is especially famous for protecting the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, tiger, gharial crocodile, and many other common wildlife species, including gaur, wild elephant, four-horned antelope, striped hyena, pangolin, dolphin, monitor lizard and python, chital, hog-deer, barking deer, sloth, palm civet, wild dog, langur, rhesus monkey, and more. Upon arrival at Bharatpur Airport, transfer to the resort in Chitwan and check-in. In the afternoon, enjoy exploring the jungle and birdwatching. In the evening, a slideshow will provide an overview of the reserve’s diverse flora and fauna. Overnight in Chitwan.
Day 04
Full-day jungle activities in Chitwan
A jeep safari through the National Park will allow you to explore the jungle and its wildlife, including one-horned rhinoceroses, various types of deer, monkeys, warthogs, sloth bears, leopards, and, if we’re lucky, the majestic Bengal tiger. This exciting drive lasts 2 to 3 hours. In the afternoon, we’ll take a canoe trip on the Rapti River and a jungle hike for birdwatching. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a Tharu Stick dance performance where farmers from nearby villages showcase their skills and traditional dances. Overnight in Chitwan.
Day 05
Bharatpur/Kathmandu
Early in the morning, we will enjoy a tour of Tharu village. We will return for breakfast, and then head to the airport for our flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, we will transfer to Bhaktapur for a sightseeing tour. Bhaktapur is located approximately 12 km east of Kathmandu. The drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, in the heart of Bhaktapur, takes about thirty minutes. We will visit points of interest such as the Lion Gate, the Golden Gate, and the statues of kings carved into stone monoliths. The Golden Gate was erected by King Ranjit Malla as the entrance to the main courtyard of the Palace of Fifty-Five Windows. The Palace of Fifty-Five Windows was built during the reign of King Yakshya Malla in 1427 AD and remodeled by King Bhupatindra Malla in the 17th century. Bhaktapur Durbar Square (Royal Square) was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. Return to the hotel and check-in. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 06
In Kathmandu
In the morning, we will visit Pashupatinath and Boudhanath. Pashupatinath, located on the banks of the Baghmati River about 8 km from the city, is one of the holiest Hindu shrines. The Pashupatinath Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. Its existence dates back to 400 AD. The richly ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga, or sacred symbol of Lord Shiva. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to pay homage to this temple, also known as the “Temple of the Living Beings,” presided over by the deity Shiva, who is worshipped in the form of the linga. Only Hindus are allowed to enter. Boudhanath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is the center of Tibetan culture in Nepal. The 36-meter-high stupa at Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world. The Boudhanath Stupa was renovated by the Licchavi rulers in the 8th century. The mandala design at Boudhanath is a copy of the one at Gyangtse in Tibet. The stupa is said to enclose the remains of a venerable Kasyap sage, revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. Gompa monasteries, souvenir shops, and restaurants surround Boudhanath. Today, Boudhanath is bustling with Tibetans engaged in carpet weaving, trade, and prayer at the various monasteries belonging to different sects of Tibetan Buddhism. In the afternoon, we will visit Swoyambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Swoyambhunath (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – Swoyambhunath literally means “Self-Existing.” It is believed that Swoyambhunath was established more than 2,500 years ago. An inscription dated 460 AD states that the construction was commissioned by King Manadeva. In the 13th century, Swayambhunath became an important center of Buddhist learning. It is also known as the Monkey Temple, as sacred monkeys live in parts of the temple complex in the northwest. Swayambhunath occupies a central position; it is probably the most sacred of all Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Kathmandu Durbar Square is located in the heart of Kathmandu’s Old City. There are approximately 50 temples in the vicinity. On this tour, we will visit the 17th-century Durbar Complex, Hanuman Dhoka, Paravati Temple, the Great Bell and Drum Temple, Bhairav Temple, and Taleju Temple. Surrounded by the splendor of these historical monuments, we will experience the hustle and bustle of the market square. The rest of the day is free for you to do some shopping if you wish. Overnight in Kathmandu.
