Afterward, we will visit Agra Fort, a 17th-century Mughal monument built of red sandstone, which served as the throne and stronghold for successive generations of this empire. This imposing citadel encloses a large number of magnificent palaces within its 2.5 km perimeter walls. Most of the structures within Agra Fort are a mix of different architectural styles. Overnight in Agra.
Day 04
Agra/Fatehpur Sikri/Jaipur by road
Early in the morning, we will visit the Taj Mahal. (Closed on Fridays) If there is one building that represents a country, it is the Taj Mahal. This world-famous Mughal monument was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, “the Lady of the Taj.” It has been described as the most extravagant funerary monument ever erected out of love, as the emperor was heartbroken when Mumtaz, to whom he had been married for 17 years, died giving birth to their fourteenth child in 1629. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631 and was not completed until 1653. Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we depart for Jaipur by road, visiting Fatehpur Sikri en route, a deserted red sandstone city built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. This citadel showcases the splendor of the Mughal Empire. After the visit, departure for Jaipur. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 05

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, we’ll visit the ancient capital of Amber to see the magnificent Amber Fort. Maharaja Mansingh, the most successful general of the Mughal emperor Akbar, began construction of Amber Fort in the 17th century. A jeep will save you the hassle of walking to the fort. Once there, you’ll wander through the extensive complex of courtyards and halls. Many of the rooms feature exquisite murals, with precious stones and mirrors inlaid in the walls. Perhaps the most fascinating is the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), where a single lamp’s light reflects off the many mirrors, illuminating the room. This afternoon, we’ll visit the city of Jaipur. Among the highlights to see while touring Jaipur is the City Palace, a vast complex of exquisite palaces, gardens and courtyards, decorative art, and carved gates. The palace museum houses collections of rare manuscripts, armories, costumes, carpets, and miniature paintings. We will walk to Jantar Mantar, the astronomical observatory built in 1726 by the Maharaja of Jaipur. There are also two 11th-century temples adorned with unusual sculptures. On the way back to Udaipur, we will visit the City Palace and its museums. Day 09
Udaipur/Mumbai by domestic flight
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. At the designated time, transfer to Udaipur Airport for your flight to Mumbai. The history of Mumbai, its local name, or Bombay as it’s known in English, is the story of a city’s evolution and incredible transformation from its founding to the present day. The British built it specifically for trade, and over the years it changed hands, passing from the Koli fishing village, through the Portuguese conquest, to becoming part of Catherine of Braganza’s dowry when she married Charles II of England. Bombay is the gateway to India, commemorated by a monument of the same name, built to celebrate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. Today, Mumbai is India’s main commercial and financial center and is constantly evolving. It’s also known as the capital of Bollywood. Arrival in Mumbai and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Overnight in Mumbai.
Day 10
In Mumabi
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, we will visit the Elephanta Island Caves (closed on Mondays), located 9 km off the coast of Mumbai and an hour by speedboat from India Gate. Of the island’s seven caves, only five are open to the public. The most spectacular is Cave 1, which has been architecturally dated between the 5th and 8th centuries. Two of the caves are representative of Buddhism, and the rest of Hinduism. The caves contain stone sculptures carved from basalt rock, representing Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Lifesaver, and Shiva the Destroyer. Dedicated to Shiva, the beauty and power of these sculptures, representing the various manifestations of Shiva, are overwhelming. Afterwards, we will begin our tour of Mumbai, visiting the Prince of Wales Museum, with its distinctive British colonial architecture and a striking white Mughal-style dome, which houses an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures; Marine Drive, a three-kilometer waterfront promenade; Malabar Hill, the hanging gardens on the slopes of Malabar Hill, offering panoramic views of the bay and the Chowpatty Beach coastal road; Mani Bhavan – the house Mahatma Gandhi used during his visit, now a museum; and Dhobi Ghat – the great laundry.
